Make your child's first day back to school as easy as possible. Many children will be nervous, especially if starting in a new school. It may be helpful to visit the new school or classroom before the first day of school. You can also find another child in the same neighborhood or community who may be attending the same school. Plan to arrive at school early the first day to decrease any unnecessary stress. Touch base with your child's teacher early so the teacher knows you want to be actively involved in your child's school experience.
Start each day with a nutritious breakfast. Studies show that children who eat a well-rounded breakfast have improved concentration, focus and energy.
Sleep is an essential factor for a child's successfulness in school. Children who do not get enough sleep have trouble concentrating and learning. Consider starting your child's school sleep schedule a week or two ahead of time so that they adjust easier when school starts.
